Robert De Lavergne

Writer, Photographer, Caretaker, and Biographer Robert De Lavergne was dedicated to one thing: Robert "Bob" Cremean. Through the entirity of their lives - Robert was always a fountation for Bob to grow from. In his limited work outside of the subject of his long term husband, Robert occupies a distinctive position in postwar American literature, marked by rigorous formal, and symbolic density, with extreme sustained engagement with moral & value structures.

Pen Name and Literary Practice

Robert authored a body of writing under the pseudonym Marc William Meredith, choosing anonymity as a shield for his deeper pursuit: capturing Cremean’s life without overshadowing his subject. These texts range from reflective essays to interpretive chronicles and are held, in manuscript form, within this estate’s special collections. While much of his writing remains unpublished, the pages he left behind reveal a singular voice: patient, attentive, and committed to the “living book” of Bob Cremean’s life and work.
